The difference between the word ‘victim’ and ‘survivor’ could be the difference between someone choosing to ask for help or hiding their pain.
There are many reasons why people don’t seek help after experiencing sexual violence or abuse. It was time to face the barriers of shame, fear of judgement, and fear of not being believed.
Working with the Ministry of Justice and Rape Crisis on phase 2 of a highly successful campaign, I revitalised the concept by focusing on the places and moments where violence can take place. The concept trusts survivors to fill in the gaps and leaves space for their own experience.
